Project Overview

The Horizon Residence

A 2,800 sq ft contemporary family home demonstrating the structural freedom and energy efficiency of Light Gauge Steel (LGS) technology.

The Horizon Residence

Architectural Vision

The Horizon Residence was designed to push the boundaries of what dry construction can achieve in high-end residential architecture. The client requested an open-concept layout with massive spans and a cantilevered second floor—features that would be cost-prohibitive with traditional timber or masonry but are perfectly suited for Light Gauge Steel (LGS).

By using steel, we were able to achieve a sleek, industrial-modern aesthetic while ensuring the structure remains perfectly plumb and level, something virtually impossible with wood over such a large footprint.

Engineering & Precision

The entire skeleton of the Horizon Residence was designed using BIM (Building Information Modeling) software. Each steel stud was pre-cut and pre-punched for electrical and plumbing services at the factory, leading to a “zero-waste” job site and surgical precision during the assembly phase.

  • Structural System: Cold-formed galvanized steel.
  • Special Feature: 12-foot cantilevered balcony without visible support columns.
  • Acoustics: Multi-layer drywall system with resilient channels for superior sound dampening.
  • Thermal Envelope: External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS) combined with rockwool cavity fill.
Modern Living Room

Interior Mastery

The strength of the steel frame allowed for an expansive “Great Room” with 20-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass walls. This creates a seamless indoor-outdoor flow, a hallmark of contemporary luxury living.

  1. Gourmet Kitchen: Featuring a 4-meter waterfall island and integrated smart appliances.
  2. Floating Staircase: A custom steel-and-oak staircase that acts as a central sculptural element.
  3. Climate Control: Zoned HVAC system optimized for the high thermal mass of the interior finishes.

Efficiency & Longevity

Unlike traditional builds, the Horizon Residence is immune to rot, termites, and warping. The steel frame is 100% recyclable, and the house achieved an Energy Star certification thanks to its airtight construction and high-performance insulation values (R-45 in the roof).

“Steel gives us the mathematical certainty that every corner is square and every line is straight. For a modern home like this, there is no better way to build.” — Project Lead Engineer
