A breathtaking hybrid log cabin that fuses traditional heavy timber craftsmanship with modern energy-efficient glass systems.
The Timber Ridge Lodge was born from a desire to return to the roots of alpine architecture while embracing 21st-century comfort. Unlike standard log homes, this project utilizes a Hybrid Timber Frame system, allowing for massive interior volumes and expansive glass walls that wouldn’t be possible with traditional stacked logs alone.
The result is a home that feels like a mountain sanctuary—warm, grounded, and deeply connected to the old-growth forest that surrounds it.
The standout feature of this lodge is the use of reclaimed Douglas Fir for the structural beams. Each timber was hand-finished by master carpenters, ensuring that the natural character of the wood—including its unique grain and knots—is celebrated throughout the home.
The interior design revolves around a “Modern Heritage” concept. We balanced the heavy wood textures with smooth plaster walls and black steel accents to prevent the space from feeling dated.
Jackson Hole experiences some of the most extreme temperature swings in the country. To combat this, the Lodge features a High-Performance Envelope. By using SIPs instead of traditional stick-framing, we eliminated 90% of thermal bridging, keeping the interior at a stable temperature with minimal energy consumption.
“There is a specific peace found in a house built from the earth. The Timber Ridge Lodge is an heirloom, designed to age as gracefully as the forest around it.” — Bark Design Director
